What Health Insurance Is Accepted by Providence Little Company of Mary?
If Providence Little Company of Mary is important to you, don’t choose a health plan based only on the insurance company’s name. The exact plan, network, medical group, doctor and hospital can matter.
- Providence Little Company of Mary has medical centers in
- Providence — Current Insurance Accepted lists commercial, Medicare and Covered California plans for its Los Angeles County facilities, including Little Company of Mary.
- Important: Providence warns that not every health plan or medical group contracts with every Providence hospital.
Covered California & Individual Health Plans
Providence’s current Los Angeles County insurance page lists the following Covered California plans:
- Anthem Blue Cross — Pathway HMO
- Blue Shield of California — Trio HMO
- Blue Shield of California — PPO
- Health Net — Ambetter PPO
Don’t stop at the company name. Before enrolling, verify that your exact Little Company of Mary hospital, doctor and medical group participate in the particular plan and network you are considering.
Employer & Group Health Plans
Providence’s current Los Angeles County commercial insurance list includes:
- Aetna
- Anthem
- Blue Shield of California
- Cigna
- Community Care Network / First Health
- First Health / Coventry
- Health Net
- MultiPlan — including Admar, Beech Street and PHCS
- TRICARE
- UnitedHealthcare
- US Family Health Plan — a TRICARE Prime option
An employer plan can still have different HMO, PPO, EPO, POS, medical group and network arrangements. Seeing the insurance company on Providence’s list is a good starting point, but it is not a substitute for checking the exact employer plan.
Original Medicare (Part A & Part B) + Medigap
- My web page — What Medicare Part A & Part B Cover
- With Original Medicare, Medicare says you can generally use any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare anywhere in the United States.
- My web page — California Medicare Supplement / Medigap Plans
- A Medicare Supplement does not create an HMO-style provider network. It’s more of a PPO! It helps pay certain costs left by Original Medicare for Medicare-covered services.
Before scheduled care, verify that the hospital and the individual physicians involved accept Medicare. Hospital participation does not necessarily tell you how every physician involved in your care bills Medicare.
Medicare Advantage — Check the Exact Plan & Medical Group
Providence’s current Los Angeles County Medicare list includes, these plans that we represent:
- Anthem Medicare Advantage — Providence specifies Facey and Axminster only.
- Blue Shield Medicare Advantage
- SCAN Medicare Advantage
This is a good example of why the medical group can be just as important as the insurance company. A Medicare Advantage card with the correct company name does not automatically mean that every Providence doctor, medical group or Little Company of Mary facility is in-network.

Medi-Cal
Providence states that it participates in California’s Medi-Cal program. However, Medi-Cal access can depend on Medi Cal managed care plan, medical group, doctor and facility.

- California DHCS — Medi-Cal
- Before making an appointment, verify your exact Medi-Cal managed care plan and assigned medical group.
Before You Enroll — Verify the Whole Chain
If Providence Little Company of Mary is important to you, I recommend checking more than whether someone says, “We take Blue Shield,” “We take Anthem,” or “We take Medicare.”
- 1. Insurance company — Is the carrier accepted?
- 2. Exact plan name — HMO, PPO, EPO, Medicare Advantage, Covered California or employer plan?
- 3. Provider network — Which network does that exact plan use?
- 4. Medical group or IPA — Especially important with HMO and Medicare Advantage coverage.
- 5. Primary care doctor — Is the doctor in the exact network and accepting new patients?
- 6. Specialists — Are the specialists you need included?
- 7. Hospital — Verify the specific Providence Little Company of Mary campus you want to use.
- Providence — Find a Doctor
- Provider Finder — All Companies
- My web page — Find Your Doctor Before You Enroll
I also recommend saving or printing your provider-directory results before enrolling. Provider networks can change, and the exact doctor, location and medical group matter.
